Recently, in B.C., the Court awarded $844,000 to a victim who was subjected to sexual assaults by a priest in the 1970s. You can read more about the story here (link).

Rosemary Anderson was a young teacher when she became a member of the church community. She sought guidance from the priest who was in a position of trust and authority relative to Ms. Anderson. Despite rumours of other instances of sexual misconduct, the Church’s leadership failed to investigate and adequately address the concerns raised. Ms. Anderson’s vulnerability relative to her abuser was a factor in the remedy amount. You can read the Court’s decision here (link).
