CBC News today reported on the call for an inquiry into Canada’s role in the detention of Benamar Benatta, a refugee claimant who was illegally transferred by Canadian officials to the US on September 12, 2001 and held for five years in American custody. Mr. Benatta is represented by Bakerlaw, with Nicole Chrolavicius as lead counsel.

“I know it’s time for me to face what I went through and put it behind me and try to go on with my life, if I can,” Mr. Benatta told the CBC. “I just need some explanation.”
