Retaining our services

Get in touch with us
Call us at 416-533-0040 to find out if we can help you

If you believe that your legal matter fits into one of our practice areas, you can contact us by phone any time during regular office hours (9-5, Monday to Friday) at 416-533-0040. We'll direct you to one of our intake officers, who will ask you some questions about your matter.

Keep in mind that it is always best to find a lawyer well before you need one. It can be difficult to act on short notice, so be sure to contact us well ahead of any important dates!

Tell us your story

Be prepared when you call to provide the intake officer with a brief outline of your matter, as well as the answers to a few questions, such as the following:

- What do you hope to achieve?
- Have you already commenced any legal proceedings in the matter?
- Are there any important upcoming dates we should know about?

If your matter fits within our practice areas, your intake officer will pass the details you've provided on to a Bakerlaw lawyer, who will contact you within approximately one week by telephone to determine whether we are a good fit for your needs. Our lawyers can provide you with up to 30 minutes of free time on the telephone to consult about your matter.

If your matter doesn't fit our practice areas, your intake officer will do his or her best to provide you with an appropriate referral. If that isn't possible, we'll direct you to the Law Society of Upper Canada's Lawyer Referral Service.

Complete a retainer agreement

Once you and a Bakerlaw lawyer have determined that Bakerlaw will act on your behalf, your retainer agreement will be prepared. The retainer agreement outlines items such as the scope and nature of our services, our fees, and the required retainer/up-front payment.

We are not your lawyers until we are officially retained by our agreeing to act for you in accordance with our policy for accepting new clients. No information that we provide to you can be treated as legal advice until we are officially retained to act as your lawyers.

Still have questions?

If you have any questions about any of the above, or would like to learn more about what we do, don't hesitate to contact us. We look forward to speaking with you - in the meantime, thank you for visiting our site and for your interest in our services.
